Welcome to our 241st newsletter on Star Atlas! This weekly newsletter, published by Aephia Industries, focuses entirely on the development of this ambitious game. Here, we attempt to aggregate all the newsworthy tidbits revealed, primarily by the team, throughout the past week.

Last week’s Atlas Brew was largely dedicated to the DAO Council’s review of the 34 PIPs proposed so far, leaving relatively little room for new announcements. As a result, this week’s newsletter is a shorter one. The biggest news is the conclusion of PIP-34, alongside the arrival of the first Jorvik pirate fleets in the SAGE C4 PTR.

DAO Updates

Voting on PIP-34 closed on Sunday, August 2. The proposal failed with roughly 97.8M PVP committed, more than twice the voting power recorded in last week’s snapshot. The final gap between For and Against was 20.9 percentage points, compared with 44.4 points in last week’s snapshot.

PIP-34: Star Atlas Crew Adventure Series – Season Production

Follow the Star Atlas Crew as they face challenges in Galia. The series is an ongoing cinematic story rooted directly in Star Atlas lore. The episodes will bridge the gap and bring new players to the game. This proposal funds the production of one complete season:

  • Two months of weekly episodes, each 4 minutes 50 seconds or longer.
  • 12 or more weekly YouTube Shorts tied to each weekly episode.

The request of 13,576,392 ATLAS covers the content pipeline: writing, world building, environment creation, character development, animation, sound design, original music, editing, and distribution on YouTube and X.

Earlier seasons (1–5) are already publicly released, including the re-release of Season 1 (Reimagined). This proposal provides the resources for the next season, allowing the series to continue expanding the Star Atlas universe and offering consistent, lore-driven media.

The small bit of news John (Product Manager) did share towards the end of the Atlas Brew is that Jorvik pirates are currently roaming a single region per Faction in the SAGE C4 PTR. They each control an ECOS Superphoenix titan ship (among plenty of other ships), so best not to underestimate them! Their objective is to conquer the region, and then set out to conquer neighboring regions.

In short, there is some PvE fun to be had!

Big Mobs

The team dropped two AI-generated videos of large beasts that should make their way into UE5 at some point. Though it may take some time before we’ll see these in-game, and despite being AI-generated, we’re sharing the videos (and X messages they are part of) here:

No Sneak Peeks

The stream of material posted these past few weeks by the Sperasoft team seems to come to an end. Though they made some new posts this past week, all of it was material they already shared before.
